On July 13th, we held our second volunteers briefing at the Star Anise offices in Central. The group of new volunteers were varied in background, but all equally committed to offering up their time and services to the Centre.
A presentation, led by Davyd with the help of Allan and Annie, outlined the Centre’s outlook for the upcoming months, as well as sharing recent news such as our new joint office at Ho Man Tin!
One of the goals mentioned was our hope to increase the frequency of our legal advice clinics, held in collaboration with SoCO. Our more experienced volunteers, Peter and Gon, shared their thoughts on their past experiences volunteering at the clinic and how participating in the Centre’s work meant to them. They’ve found the sessions to be ‘very fulfilling’ and ‘dynamic’.
The volunteers were also introduced to the team, getting to learn more about everyone’s backgrounds, including the Centre’s soon-to-be first paid member of staff – Paul. This was something we were only able to achieve through the generosity of our donors (please visit our donor page!). Paul also discussed his work at the Centre with the volunteers.
We concluded the successful briefing with light refreshments and further discussions in a more relaxed atmosphere. We look to our next quarterly meet-up and if you would like to join, please complete the sign-up sheet (here)
Thanks also to Volunteer Co-ordinator, Felix (pictured), for arranging the event and the selfie!
